Jonathan works and lives in Jerusalem, which is the main subject and inspiration of his paintings. Jonathon has studied art since the age of 5, having trained in Pearson College in British Columbia, Canada, as well as Tel Aviv, Israel. The artist states that his goal is “to bring happiness, joy and enthusiasm to viewers of his paintings,” and “to incorporate Tikkun Olam, an ancient Jewish concept of bettering the world,” into his work. Many of his paintings include a view through a window, in an attempt to supply a viewer with a window to a happier magical world. His works are often painted either with his left hand, or while placed upside down, in order for him to achieve a naive and kid-like line, which helps him to balance the seriousness emphasized in his art training.
